On August 13, 2024, the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) declared the results for the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) Part I-II and various Technical Education programs, including Medical Technology, Inter-Tech, IUASM, and Diploma courses. The event took place at the Ministry of Federal Education and Vocational Training in Islamabad, with the Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, presiding over the announcement.
This announcement was particularly significant because it marked the first time the Federal Board introduced the Inter-Tech stream of technical education at the intermediate level. This move is a milestone in the country’s educational landscape, setting a precedent for other educational boards to follow. By taking this initiative, the Federal Board has positioned itself as a leader in promoting technical education in Pakistan.
Over the past year and a half, the board’s efforts have borne fruit, resulting in a substantial increase in the number of affiliated technical institutes. From having no such institutes at the intermediate level, the number has risen to 183 in just 18 months. Additionally, student enrollment in these technical education programs has seen a significant surge, growing from zero to over 7,000 students during this period.
The Federal Minister for Education reviewed these outcomes and expressed his satisfaction with the progress. He emphasized the importance of technical education for the nation’s future and expressed optimism that the FBISE would continue its efforts in this direction. The Minister also highlighted the role of technical education in equipping students with practical skills that are essential in the modern workforce.
In support of these initiatives, the Federal Secretary for Education, Mr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Wani, and the Senior Joint Secretary/Chairman of the Federal Board, Syed Junaid Akhlaq, pledged their full cooperation. They assured that they would continue to support the promotion and expansion of technical education across the country, recognizing its critical role in national development.
