Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi chief Monem Zafar Khan has demanded an independent retest of the top 100 MDCAT 2026 candidates following allegations of irregularities and poor examination management. In a letter to Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) President Dr. Rizwan Taj, he urged the council to investigate students’ complaints and address concerns about the examination’s fairness. Monem said around 9,500 Karachi candidates were accommodated at just two examination centers, both on University Road. He contrasted this with 19 centers in Peshawar and six in Lahore, saying Karachi’s arrangements forced students and their families to travel long distances. He also alleged that candidates faced lengthy waits in the heat, with some remaining seated for up to eight hours. The JI leader questioned the appointment of IBA Sukkur to conduct the examination and instructions requiring examination papers to be taken back from candidates. He highlighted objections to the Biology, Chemistry, and Physics answer keys, including complaints involving paper codes A and D. He also sought an independent investigation into concerns about possible changes to results. Monem demanded a transparent account of examination funds, claiming that more than Rs. 1.26 billion had been collected. Separately, Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal has already directed the PMDC to investigate complaints about MDCAT 2026 in Sindh. The retest remains a demand, not an announced decision.
